“Caring and Achieving Excellence in a Christian Community”

I am delighted to offer you a very warm welcome to our school. As is widely known, I recently accepted the offer to become Sacred Heart Catholic College’s new Headteacher beginning my work in April 2021. Sacred Heart College has long been admired for offering a traditional and rounded experience to educating young people aged 11 to 18 across two sites in the heart of Crosby, Liverpool. The long-standing values of a commitment to high standards in personal development and to the fulfilment of potential in young people attracted me to the school and these values are evident in the daily interactions I witness between pupils and their teachers and certainly in the philosophy driving school improvement here.

We believe that by instilling a sense of identity in our young people and by developing a community which is caring and supportive, individuals can be empowered to become outward looking, successful, articulate and having ownership of moral responsibility based on the school’s Catholic ethos.

We are therefore ambitious for the young people that we serve, and we strive to provide improved performance by focusing on excellence in teaching, high standards of conduct and a provision of quality resources. We do this whilst recognising the uniqueness of each child whom we see as being made in the image and likeness of God.

It is our aim that the families we serve feel part of our mission. We are committed to providing education which is distinctive and allows each child to experience the joy of life and to find fulfilment in their academic work as well as their recreation. We will do this in a caring and supportive way that draws on the strengths of parents, our staff and the Church.

I hope that you find the contents of our website helpful. Should you be considering joining our community either as a parent, a pupil or member of staff, I am sure that you will be made to feel very welcome.

Mr Mooney
